Between the banana plantations and the sea: the fishing villages of Alcalá and Playa San Juan, and the Abama resort at the luxury end.
The coast of Guía de Isora has developed quickly but stays calmer than the resorts further south. Playa San Juan and Alcalá are still real villages, with a harbour, a promenade and fish restaurants, and La Gomera straight ahead across the water.
At the top of the market is the Abama resort with its golf course. The town of Guía de Isora itself lies higher up, and between the two the land is largely given over to bananas under cover.
