Ancient laurel forest, knife-edge ridges and tiny coastal villages in a UNESCO biosphere reserve at the island’s north-eastern tip.
The Anaga mountains are the oldest part of Tenerife and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The laurel forest at the top, often in the clouds, is a remnant of the vegetation that once covered southern Europe. Below it, villages such as Taganana, Almáciga and Roque de las Bodegas cling to the slopes above black-sand beaches.
Building is tightly limited, so what comes up for sale is mostly existing houses and small farms, often in need of work.
