The busy south-west: Los Cristianos and its ferry harbour, Playa de las Américas, and quieter Palm-Mar and Las Galletas.
Arona has one of the largest foreign communities on the island. Los Cristianos began as a fishing village and still has a harbour, now also serving the ferries to La Gomera, with a full town around it that stays busy all year. Playa de las Américas next door is the nightlife and hotel centre.
Palm-Mar and Las Galletas are smaller and quieter, and inland lie the old town of Arona and villages such as La Camella. The range of housing is the widest in the south, from studios to villas.
