On the coast, San Miguel de Abona is about golf and marinas: Golf del Sur, Amarilla Golf and the San Miguel marina, in developments of villas and apartments that fill with northern Europeans in winter.
Inland the land rises through old villages to Vilaflor, at around 1,400 metres, among pine forests and vineyards and close to the rock formations of the Paisaje Lunar. Within half an hour you can go from the beach to the mountains.
